welcome to the ericamay blog!

Hi! I'm Erica May Short, and I'm so excited that you're visiting my photography blog. This blog will show you all of my current work with a few fun personal things mixed in to help you get to know me better. I am a wedding and portrait photographer in Kansas City, and I love my job. I am so blessed to be a part of so many love stories. My photography style is a fun and relaxed documentary style, and I focus more on emotions than posed stuff. :) Besides photography, I love my husband (Jeff), our miniature schnauzer (Petey), and the color green. You can visit my main portfolio website at www.ericamay.com!

We met up...

Petey says, “Happy Thanksgiving!” :)

Petey loves Thanksgiving.
Why, you ask?

And because his mom (that’s me) is a sucker for his cute little face, and I can’t resist giving him tastes of the delicious Thanksgiving meal.
So, here’s Petey, wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving. Take time this year to enjoy moments with your family and...

Cans for Comments Starts NOW!

My life is very blessed. I have an awesome family, great friends, and the most amazing opportunity to photograph people’s lives. Sometimes I want to pinch myself and ask if this is all real — because I feel so fortunate to be living this life. I believe in the importance of giving, serving, and loving...

Family Photos at Loose Park, Kansas City

One of the best parts about taking portraits of families is getting to work with them again as kids get older — or as dads come home from military deployments! Both are true with this shoot… I took photos of this family a while back when their dad was deployed with the Army....

New Orleans: The Touristy Part of Our Trip

We spent most of last week in New Orleans for Pictage’s PartnerCon, a national convention of photographers from all over. It was an amazing experience to meet so many incredible photographers, learn from them, and become motivated to take our photography to the next level. I am so excited about what we learned there, the...

November Wedding: Mallory and Kylan

Guess what?! I’m back… we’ve been back for a while from New Orleans, where we seem to have contracted the flu! This has not been a fun several days of recovering, but the trip to New Orleans was great and I’m looking forward to sharing tons of fun photos with you this week.
For now, I’m...
