And I love it. This one was made so much fun by the wind and the sun joining us for a fun night in the Crossroads District in Kansas City. Rachel and Cory are awesome. They’re adorable together, super fun, quick to laugh and didn’t mind the wind blowing around like crazy. The windy photos ended up being some of my favorites, combined with the gorgeous evening light, so that’s most of what I’m sharing on the blog. After all, this is where I show my favorites. :) Rachel and Cory, you’re amazing. I hope these photos help tell your story.

I did a photo shoot of some fruits for a project someone requested for their new kitchen decor. Citrus fruits, to be exact. I don’t get projects like this very often, so it was fun to try to be creative with photos of inanimate objects. I like the results of these, mostly because the bright colors and fun reflections on the table. Big thanks to my mother- and father-in-law for letting me use your beautiful entryway for a photo shoot of some fruits. :)

Who can guess what the really big fruit is?? Alison and Chris, you’re disqualified! :)

Do you know anyone who lives in the Las Vegas area? I’m looking for some willing participants for a shoot between February 19th and 22nd, either on The Strip with the fun city lights, or out of the city at Red Rocks Canyon. Surely someone here knows a friend in the Vegas area! :) Please send them my way!

Or, better yet… does anyone want to ELOPE? :) Free wedding photos at the cheesy Vegas chapel of your choosing! That would be incredible. You think I’m joking, but really, I’m not. It’s on my unofficial list of things to do starting now. :)

I’m leaving my computer at home and celebrating almost 20 years of friendship with my BFF Kasie. So, if you’re trying to reach me… I’ll be back to work on Monday! I have created a few little blog posts to keep you entertained while I’m gone, though. :)

I can’t wait to take photos of the coast, enjoy warmer weather than Kansas City is supposed to have this weekend, and have lots of fun girl time with the person who has been beside me for so many of my life stories! We’re taking along a camera, two fixed lenses, and an awesome plastic film camera (the Diana F+) that I’ve been having so much fun shooting on lately. Don’t worry, I’ll share photos when we get back!

Since a blog post doesn’t count on a photography blog without a photo, here’s a shot of me that my awesome husband took a month or so ago when we were playing around with off-camera lighting on the top of a parking garage downtown.

Jeff and I are going to this amazing photography workshop and I’m so looking forward to the experience. Thank you all for being so patient with me as I’m slower than usual replying to emails and returning phone calls during these last few weeks. I’m excited to pick back up with shooting incredible weddings this weekend!

For now, here’s a shot of the Santa Monica Pier. I was there taking photos of the WLC ambassadors doing a community service project for Heal the Bay, where they picked up trash and helped keep the beach clean! What a cool project! Anyway, I also snapped this while I was there. Enjoy!

I’ve seen people use them for unique guest book ideas, reception centerpieces, slideshows, invitations, and Facebook profile pictures. :) At Carolyn and Jeremiah’s recent wedding, I saw an oil painting someone did of one of their engagement photos I took during their session a few months ago. I thought that was a really fun gift, a creative way to use a photo, and something I thought you’d like to see here.

I wish I could remember the name of the artist to give credit to her work… if you’re reading this, leave a comment below so we can give you credit! :)

I’m heading to California today for 10 days to photograph the amazing HOBY World Leadership Congress. It’s going to be an incredible, busy experience and I’m so excited that I get to photograph this event with students from around the world! It will be quite a change from wedding photography, which should be a fun challenge. :)

I’ll be gone until July 31st, but I should at least have some access to e-mail while I’m gone. Please feel free to contact me as you normally would, and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can! I have also set up some blog posts to publish while I’m gone, so hopefully I can at least keep things her on the blog a little entertaining while I’m away. :)
