welcome to the ericamay blog!

Hi! I'm Erica May Short, and I'm so excited that you're visiting my photography blog. This blog will show you all of my current work with a few fun personal things mixed in to help you get to know me better. I am a wedding and portrait photographer in Kansas City, and I love my job. I am so blessed to be a part of so many love stories. My photography style is a fun and relaxed documentary style, and I focus more on emotions than posed stuff. :) Besides photography, I love my husband (Jeff), our miniature schnauzer (Petey), and the color green. You can visit my main portfolio website at www.ericamay.com!

When I was editing the images from Sarah and Brett’s wedding, I came across another image that just made me smile. I love everything about this — the expressions on their face, the backlighting from the windows, and their friends in the background.
A moment that can last just a second...

Colleen and Tobie’s Wedding at The Simpson House in Kansas City

“He’s kissed her at least a thousand times…”
A wedding guest near me said those words during Colleen and Tobie’s first dance. And it might have been true. Their first dance was beautiful, set to Peter Gabriel’s The Book of Love. Their dance together was reflective of their relationship — beautiful, romantic, loving. Just like their...

It was present on their wedding day. This knowledge that their relationship was orchestrated by someone who knows what’s best. Someone who had their relationship in mind for a long time, and brought the two of them together. It was all part of God’s design for their lives… they just had to be patient for...

Their wedding day was a reflection of that. Friends and family, lots of laughs, and celebrating together. The best way for a marriage to begin.
Sarah loves the sunshine and wanted her wedding day images...

McPherson Kansas Wedding: Megan and Dallas

Megan and Dallas are two people who are so in love, they can forget the camera is even nearby. I loved getting to capture them on camera, because they were so excited to be getting married to each other, that they were beaming all day. We started with a “first look” at a...

Jenny and Cameron’s wedding day was a celebration. A party. A time to encourage and praise a great couple. They chose to have an outdoor wedding at Eberly Farm in Wichita, Kansas, and it was perfect to watch the celebration unfold as the sun went down on a Friday night. I loved Jenny and Cameron...
