I love the moments that happen right after a wedding ceremony.

We stopped downtown for portraits on the way to the reception venue. How cute are these two together?!

I love the reflection of the new performing arts center.

Tamara’s sorority and Royce’s fraternity each did a song for the newly married couple, a tradition!

They left their reception in a vintage Rolls Royce, which was sooo beautiful.

I also love this one. I realize this is a lot of car photos… but there’s something so classically beautiful about Tamara, Royce, and the car — and all three together is just lovely!

Meghan’s niece was so adorable, and just one of the cute babies that made an appearance that day.

We headed to the Laura Mercier make-up counter at Halls:

As all of the preparations and getting ready festivities were underway all morning, Meghan’s brother and sister-in-law were at the hospital, in LABOR. Yes, in labor. Not only did this family get to celebrate a wedding, but they also had the anticipation and excitement of the newest member of the family coming into the world on the same day! All morning, everyone was anxiously awaiting the news of the baby… and in the early afternoon, about two hours before the ceremony, a text arrived on Meghan’s dad’s phone. I can’t describe how much fun it was to capture the expressions on everyone’s faces as they heard the news!

The news had to be shared with the rest of the aunts and uncles!

My sweet husband Jeff helped me photograph this day, and he was with the guys through all of this!

It started raining right as everyone arrived at St. Peter’s for the ceremony.

Andy didn’t see Meghan before the ceremony, so the walk down the aisle was really special. He waited in the wings with his dad beforehand.

Meghan has several adorable nieces and nephews, who participated in the wedding:

Meghan’s uncle officiated the ceremony, which was really special.

After the ceremony, we took the trolley to shoot some portraits at Kauffman Garden right before the skies opened up and it started pouring again.

Meghan wore a family heirloom on her dress — her grandmother’s pocket watch. I love that she attached it to her dress.

Since it was raining anyway, and family comes before group photos, we skipped some of our planned portrait time and took the trolley to the hospital to visit the new baby! It was one of the most memorable things I’ve ever had happen at a wedding, and SO much fun to capture it all in photos.

Then, we headed to Indian Hills Country Club for the reception. It’s one of my favorite venues, and as always, the party was a wonderful one. It even stopped raining as we arrived and gave us a window of time for some photos outside!

During the opening speech of the ceremony, Meghan’s dad welcomed family and friends who had come from all over, including a cousin who had just returned from a tour of duty with the military overseas. The whole room applauded and stood in honor of his service.

Congratulations, Meghan and Andy! And congratulations to the entire family on such a fun-filled day full of surprises!

I also couldn’t get enough of Lori’s amazing dress, which she found at a dress shop in Wichita. I loved the lace jacket that went over the dress and buttoned up the back. It’s so classic and lovely — just like Lori.

Jason’s sweet daughter, Ireland, was one of the flower girls. She had her makeup done and everything, a real princess moment.

The bridesmaids loved Ireland’s made-over look:

Sarah finished getting ready at her parents’ house before she saw Jason for the first time.

This is the view of the Missouri River from the backyard… so lovely!

The ceremony was held in the evening, as the sun started setting over the hills to the west of the river.

I love this shot Jeff took of Sarah’s sister during their ceremony.

They did a “hand fasting” ceremony at the end of their vows, where their hands were bound together with each other’s and Ireland’s.

At the end of the ceremony, Sarah’s dad surprised her mom and everyone else with a vow re-dedication ceremony in front of their daughters, family and friends, and by a pastor who knew the pastor who married them originally. So, they said the exact same vows to each other 30 years later. It was such a great moment.

After the ceremony, the wedding party headed to their favorite local spot, Bob’s.

When we got back to the reception, the sun was falling behind the hills to the west, and birds were roosting in the trees overhead. Jeff captured the scene perfectly. The next photo and the four below are all Jeff’s. I love how it sets the scene and tells a more complete story of the evening.

What does a flower girl do when her duties are over? Sarah’s niece had a great idea.

We started at the hotel, where Yolanda got ready and did a few bridal portraits. How GORGEOUS is Yolanda?! She looked so stunning.

They waited to see each other until their ceremony, and Yolanda’s sister gave her away! Their ceremony happened just after the sun dropped below the horizon, and it was so perfect!

I love this shot Jeff took of their post-vows celebratory dance.

Funny side story… I unintentionally wore a dress the same color as the maid of honor’s dress, so when we arrived at the chapel, the coordinator mistook me for a bridesmaid and gave me an extra bouquet of flowers. We laughed pretty hard about that, and Yolanda wanted a photo with “both” bridesmaids.

We headed to Fremont Street for some fun photos with the neon lights, and Yolanda and Jeremy shared an impromptu first dance! It was so fun!

The next two are Jeff’s, and I love them both so much.

They had a big limo to drive us all around to fun spots around the city, and the limo drive was lots of fun with Vegas-themed music videos playing!

I love how even though the Las Vegas strip is crowded with people, Yolanda and Jeremy can still look lost in their own world together.

The lights of the strip make a really great background for portraits! It was so fun for me to shoot after dark, even though nothing is really ever dark in Vegas!

Everywhere we went, people cheered and commented about how gorgeous of a bride Yolanda is. Here, under the famous Vegas sign, the crowd cheered congratulations for the happy couple!

Congratulations, Yolanda and Jeremy! Documenting your wedding day was a complete joy for us, and we couldn’t have spent the evening with a more caring and fun couple. Thank you for inviting us to be a part of telling your story!

Megan walked down the aisle to a theme from Pride and Prejudice. The incredible coordinator at Indian Hills, Amanda, took it one step further and provided the DVD of the version Megan loves and a TV in the girls’ room.

Megan’s brother Mat, a musician, wrote a song just for Megan and Alan’s wedding day. It was incredible. I am so glad my sweet husband, Jeff, was there to capture video of the whole day, and especially that part. I just can’t capture sound in a photograph.

The reception details were so great. Megan wanted everything to feel like a warm country home, with little details and fun finds that she picked up literally all over the world — things from London, Boston, Kansas City… it all came together beautifully.

They opted to skip the traditional guest book and instead have guests write on cards to put in an adorable chest time capsule for safekeeping — the cards will be read on their first, fifth, and tenth anniversary.

Megan and Alan, your day was just beautiful like the two of you — and like your families who shaped you into the people you are today. It was a joy for Jeff and I to be there. Thank you for inviting us to be a part of it all!

Caitlin wore her mother’s pearls that her dad had given to her, just like Caitlin’s mom wore her mother’s pearls on her wedding day.

They saw each other for the first time on the mezzanine level in the hotel.

And then we headed out for some fun portraits in different spots around the city!

Caitlin and Ryan had a special request for a silhouette image in the doorway of the church, to try to replicate an image that Caitlin’s grandparents had from their wedding. Here’s a Caitlin and Ryan version on the right:

The ceremony at Our Lady of Sorrows church downtown was beautiful. It’s such a gorgeous church to shoot in:

Before their reception at the Sawyer Room, we did a few more photos at sunset on the rooftop of a nearby parking garage:

Their reception details were beautiful, and Caitlin and her mom spent a year planning and coming up with ways to personalize everything. The tables were named after important places to Ryan and Caitlin, including some KU-themed names and K-State themed names.

The chair bows were really beautiful and added a rich color to the space. I also loved their wedding favors — chocolate bars wrapped in an engagement photo!

The reception was so much fun, and everything went seamlessly thanks to their day-of wedding coordinator Hannah Klamann and the always fun DJ Fernando, who knows how to pack a dance floor.

Toasts by Caitlin’s sister and Ryan’s brother had people in tears — emotional tears and tears of laughter.

Two of the images below showcase the “surprise” for Ryan of the Rock Chalk chant by Caitlin’s sorority sisters, and the “surprise” for Caitlin of the Wabash Canonball by Ryan’s K-State friends.

The second one was special, too. My friend Kali (who I shared an apartment with the summer before MY wedding!) married the love of her life, Joe, this past weekend. They began dating the summer we lived together, and I remember meeting Joe that summer and liking him a lot. He even volunteered to help do manual labor at my wedding, when he barely knew us. He has character. And he loves Kali a lot. And she can’t help but giggle (a lot) when she talks about him. Their wedding day was happy, just like the two of them.

They were anxious to see each other for the first time!

Central Community Church in Wichita has some great floor-to-ceiling windows that we took advantage of for their portraits.

Kali could not have been more beautiful. Even at the end of the day, she still looked flawless. You’re beautiful, Kali!

Their ceremony was great, and the message was all about being the kind of person that makes it easy for your spouse to submit to, love unconditionally, and dedicate their life to. It was a good message for all married people.

Since it was a HOT July day, they did their send-off indoors to keep the guests cool. How happy are these two?!

Because of the heat, they asked that we keep the outdoor portraits super fast. We did their whole set out outdoor portraits in literally 10 minutes. I love that we can keep it very simple and still get these kinds of images:

The reception was at the All-American Indian Center, which is a fun venue with the main floor sunken in the middle, and a platform all the way around the outer edge. I’m allowed to post the photo of the bridesmaid making a fish face, because she’s my BFF. Ha ha.

The toasts were funny and heartfelt… and highlighted how Joe was called Kali’s “special friend” for quite a while at the beginning of their relationship, and about how Kali requested Joe’s Facebook friendship out of the blue, which led to them talking, and eventually dating.

Congratulations, you two! Enjoy Jamaica, and married life, and changing your Facebook status to “married.”
