One of my favorite things about engagement sessions is capturing the personality of a couple. Capturing their interactions, how they smile at each other, the way they hug, and the sparkle in their eye when they’re having fun together. My goal with engagement photos is to figure out what makes a couple unique, and then grab that in various frames throughout the shoot. I absolutely love when a couple is all about each other… maybe even forgetting that I’m even there with the camera.
Carolyn and Jeremiah are so beautiful together. They are one of those couples that I hated to ask to look into my camera lens, because I loved the connection they obviously share together. Most of my favorite images from their engagement session are of them being them… not looking at me or posing for the camera. That’s what makes sessions special — it’s about them, and their relationship. The camera is just a tool for preserving it in images.
I met up with them in Manhattan, Kansas, on a gorgeous April day. We took some images around the Aggieville area for a neat urban environment, and then headed to the “Top of the World” (just on the outskirts of town), and then to a nearby park to wrap it all up.
These images make my heart happy. It’s awesome to see two people so in love.

I should also explain that Jeremiah’s t-shirt is kind of an inside joke. They were talking about how girls get to show off an engagement ring, so everyone knows they’re engaged… but guys don’t have anything to let the world know that they’re now engaged. So, Carolyn had a t-shirt made for Jeremiah.

Then, we switched gears and went out into the prairie for our second half of the shoot. Some of these are my favorite engagement images ever, I think.

Yes, we used confetti. Engagements are a celebration!

I am so excited for you two! I can’t wait for your wedding in July!
