The sweetest family.

This is our third photo shoot in about a year or so, and every time I get to see this adorable family, I get pretty pumped to have my own family! I LOVE how they interact together, how much fun they all have, how super cute their kids are, and how much laughter happens in the hour I’m there. It’s so much fun. And exactly how I want my future family to be! Here are some of my favorites from their shoot, which we did at the Liberty Memorial, since the Dad to these cute kiddos is in the Army!

Lisa and Ben got married last year, and I had the pleasure of taking their engagement and wedding photos during that exciting time in their life. Now, they’re sharing their excitement with the newest little addition to their family — Wes! Wes is six months old now, and I got to meet him and take photos of the whole family. He’s definitely his father’s son! So cute!

They brought along this rocking chair for the shoot, which Lisa’s mom had in her baby photos!

Senior and Family Photos at Shoal Creek Living History Museum

I met up with this awesome family for a combined family and senior photo session for their oldest son! This is one adorable family — how beautiful are they? Their session was fun and the day was gorgeous. Here are a few of my favorites!

Lucy’s One Year Session!

I had so much fun taking Lucy’s one year old photos — we spent time playing with her favorite toys, playing outside with pinwheels, and since it was so hot — playing in the water! She loved sitting in a tub in her yard and playing with the hose. It was quite possibly the cutest thing I’ve ever watched. Lucy is so, so adorable and I can’t believe she’s already a year old!

This is how Lucy plays peek-a-boo… instead of covering her eyes, she covers her ears!

Lucy also wore the dress that her mom, aunt, and cousin have all worn for their one-year-old photos.

Then we headed outside for some fun in the water… and Lucy wore the most adorable little swim suit!

Operation Love Reunited Session

I got to meet up with this fun family for an Operation: Love Reunited session while their soldier was home for his R&R in the middle of the deployment. It was so fun hanging out with them at the park, and the little guys are bundles of energy who were so cute for the camera! Thanks so much for driving all the way to Kansas City for the session!

Family Portraits on the Farm!

One of the best parts about family photos is getting to take photos of families more than once and capture their kids growing up and the family at different stages. This is the third time I’ve been able to take photos of this beautiful family, and I’m so thankful that they keep asking me to take photos of them! The girls are absolutely adorable, and keep getting cuter every time I see them.

We met up in Olathe at Mahaffie Stagecoach Farm for some portraits on a June evening.

Kristy also wanted some new headshots for her website, so we got some super cute ones of her! Doesn’t she look great?!

I’m sure I’ve said it before, and I’m positive I’ll say it again: I love shooting family photos in a family’s home! Since my style of photography is more of a documentary format, I love being able to do little mini-documentaries of families doing what they do best — being themselves! I approach family portraits just like I do a wedding day — I seek to capture details, emotions, and little moments shared between people who love each other.

This family is adorable. The boys are just so cute, and were so much fun to spend time with — I loved hearing their stories and capturing their personalities.
